Join us for an IDEA FEST, a hackathon for "What's Next", where you become the architect of the future in physics, statistics, political science, music, design, astronomy, biochemistry, molecular genetics, art, virtual reality, dance, and more. The list goes on for what can be created when different fields, people, and ways of thinking come together!
The College of Arts and Sciences invites students, faculty, and staff from the entire university to come together for a two day idea hackathon brainstorm experience. Explore the intersection of all types of subject matter and envision them in the form of apps, software, an experience, a product or a movement. All skill levels, all majors can apply. You do not need technical skill to participate in this event. If you have technical skill its most welcome! All attendees bring your laptops if you have them!

AudioWalk An augmented reality app that allows you to see what music people listened to across a geo-location area- like the oval, you can hold up your phone and see audio signatures of what your friends have listened to as they walked across the oval.
Glow Pot A transparent pot to grow plants in that uses a special lummincesent grow water to make the roots of the plant glow, allowing you to see the plan grow- teaching you about how plants grow in a fun cool way.
SkyTalk Uses camera on your smartphone, take a picture of the sky/cloud patterns, analyzes the photo and gives you data on weather conditions, brings up previous data on weather conditions the same day on previous years
Travel Back In Time History geeks will love this! Take a picture of where you are with the app. It will then display pictures of what that area looked like from past to present.
The College of Arts and Sciences is the academic heart of the university. With 38 departments, 20+ world-class research centers and more than 2,000 faculty and staff members, our students — undergraduate and graduate — have the opportunity to study with the best scholars, scientists and artists.
Join your fellow students, staff and faculty in the College of Arts and Sciences and brainstorm “What’s Next?” – the sky is the limit: new projects, curriculum, software, apps, movements, and more. Synergize with like minds and think about where we has a Ohio State, Arts and Sciences community could go next.
We’ll have over 60 ideas posted to ponder, and you can bring your own- together we’ll think about these ideas and strategize how to make them a reality. Mentors, designers, and strategists will help aid us in making a presentation putting you in the ring for prizes and more! This is a non-technical event, but if you can program, more the merrier. All skill levels, all majors can attend. Bring your laptops!
